Government announces how it will spend £200m Euro cash

The government yesterday announced details of how it will spend £200m of European Union in the West Midlands.

Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine said the cash would benefit more than 270 projects in industrial and urban areas across the region. Projects benefitting from the funding include research and development, urban regeneration and tourist schemes. In addition to the European funding, the schemes will attract a further £440m in government and private sector support.

Wolverhampton Council will gain £2.2m to start work on the Springvale industrial development site.
