The Manufacturing Challenge scheme has won £1.8m of Government funding. The three year scheme is designed to raise standards in 3,000 small and medium sized companies in the West Midlands.
Under the scheme, a network of larger companies will improve the preformance of smaller companies by analysing their production processes and teach best practice.
The scheme is a response to a report on the West Midlands, published last July. The report claimed poor innovation and investment threatened to undermine the region’s manufacturing competitveness.
