Speke Garston Development Company (SGDC) – the joint venture between English Partnerships and Liverpool City Council – has submitted an outline planning application for a 37ha (91-acre) car components park next to the Ford factory at Halewood, Merseyside. Ford has just completed the transfer of the freehold ownership of this site to SGDC.
SGDC is proposing a “just-in-sequence” supplier park which will feed car components via conveyor belts directly into the Ford plant.
But while SGDC owns the freehold of the site and is overseeing the outline application, Ford will submit detailed proposals once it has decided on whether to build the new Escort model at Halewood.
