Walton Group has unveiled proposals for a £150m retail and media centre in Chavasse Park, next to the Albert Dock, in Central Liverpool.
The 800,000sq ft (74,320sq m) scheme is a rival to the proposed £80m Discovery Centre media and telecommunications project on the same site. Walton is urging the Millennium Commission to reject the rival project.
The Discovery Centre has asked for £24.6m of Lottery funding. It is also set to receive about £15m from Liverpool City Council and the Merseyside Development Corporation as well as £40m of private sector finance.
