Exclusive Cellnet shortlists two sites for Leeds office requirement

Cellnet has shortlisted two sites in Leeds, each of around 5,109 sq m (55,000 sq ft), for the company’s customer services operation.

The favoured option is thought to be British Gas Properties’ Leeds City Office Park. Grenville Smith & Duncan and Knight Frank are marketing the 5,109 sq m (55,000 sq ft) first phase at £188.37 per sq m (£17.50 per sq ft).

Cellnet is also considering Yorkshire Electricity’s Whitehall, a new 4,877 sq m (52,500 sq ft) building in the city centre near the station. DTZ Debenham Thorpe and Weatherall Green & Smith are the agents.

Matthews & Goodman’s Philip Silby, who is advising the communications company, said: “They’ve been looking seriously for about six months and a decision is imminent. They want to be in Leeds because they already have customer service staff here and they want to develop this business.”

Local agents are quietly speculating that Cellnet will plump for the British Gas scheme as it offers more car parking. Knight Frank’s Clive Betts added: “When the requirement first came to the market it was on the basis that they want a lot of parking.”
