Mixed-use developer Urban Splash, has bought new sites in Liverpool and Manchester for commercial and residential development.
In Liverpool, the company is planning a £10m refurbishment of a 13,006 sq m (140,000 sq ft) factory on Bold and Duke Street, in the city centre area targeted by English Partnerships.
“Nothing has been finalised yet,” said Tom Bloxham chairman of Urban Splash. However, the scheme is likely to be along the lines of a visual arts centre, incorporating workshop and gallery space.
Bloxham has also bought 23,225 sq m (250,000 sq ft) warehouse in Manchester Street with redevelopment in mind. Possible uses include both residential and commercial, including licensed and leisure operations.
Urban Splash is now responsible for refurbishing over 92,900 sq m (1m sq ft) of previously redundant commercial space.
In Manchester, the developer has submitted a planning application to convert a 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) warehouse on Ellesmere Street in Castlefield for residential use. The company is developing a further (7,432 sq m) 80,000 sq ft of industrial space in the area and is looking to acquire further property there, said Bloxham.
