James Ritblat tipped to buy Asda retail investment in Hulme, south Manchester

James Ritblat’s Freehold Portfolio Estates is tipped to be buying a retail unit pre-let to Asda in Hulme, south Manchester, for £14m.

The 6,688 sq m (72,000 sq ft ) unit is being built by AMEC as part of the developer’s regeneration plans in Hulme. While details of the letting remain secret, the building should be ready for occupation by Asda at the end of the year.

Ritblat refused to confirm or deny the transaction and AMEC’s director Ken Knott was unavailable for comment. DTZ Debenham Thorpe is advising AMEC.
