Queens’ Counsel George Barlett says plans to build the (427ft) 130m-long bridge over the Thames at Temple Gardens would break planning laws. He says it would fly in the face of conservation policies for Westminster and London.
He has also accused environment secretary John Gummer of coming out in favour of the scheme before consultation with planning authorities.
