Thornfield Properties is tipped to have bought CNT’s Fodderwick site in Basildon town centre where there is room for for up to 18,500 sq m (200,000 sq ft) of retail and leisure development.
The property company is rumoured to have beaten off rivals Helical Retail, Taylor Woodrow Properties, Trinity Investments, Lansbury Holdings and Asda Property Holdings with a bid believed to have topped £13m.
CNT’s 2.87 ha (7.1 acre) site is at the western end of Basildon town centre. The commission would not confirm the identity of the successful buyer.
