Warner Bros and United News and Media are re-activating a search for land on which to build their £225m Movie World theme park following a decision to pull out of the Hillingdon House Farm site in Uxbridge.
Land at Rainham Marshes in Essex and the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, south London, are among around 40 options under consideration. A site on the M1 near Milton Keynes is also on the shortlist.
A spokesman for Warner said: “We are looking for between 150 and 200 acres, near a motorway junction, and preferrably in the south east: the nearer to London the better.” The development will include film and television studios.
Warner and UNM dropped plans to build the theme park in Uxbridge following a lengthy planning row. The site is in the green belt, and the local authority had insisted that land was set aside for an ecology park.
DTZ is advising Warner.
