Developer confirms £9m sale of Maple House in Birmingham to NatWest

Richardson Barberry has confirmed the sale of Birmingham’s Maple House to National Westminster for £9m, as exclusively revealed by EGi.

“Yes, we have completed the deal,” said Don Richardson. “It was for a figure in the region of £9m.”

NatWest bought the freehold of the 4,830 sq m (52,000 sq ft) office building on Corporation Street from under the Royal Mail’s nose. The Royal Mail had already agreed terms to let the building but has now resumed its search for 5,574 sq m (60,000 sq ft) in Birmingham city centre.

The bank will run two operations, a call centre and a loan centre, out of its new building.

Grimley represented NatWest. Weatherall, Green & Smith is advising the Royal Mail. DTZ Debenham Thorpe represented Richardson Barberry on Maple House.
