Kyle Stewart and Miller Developments are on the acquisition trail for development sites in the West Midlands with both looking to open offices in Birmingham.
The developers are following in the footsteps of AMEC, the last major developer to set up in Birmingham. The company launched its Midlands arm in April 1996 to develop sites at Castlegate Park, Dudley, and Parklands in Birmingham Great Park.
Kyle Stewart will manage the development of its 50.5 ha (125 acre) Coton Park in Rugby from Birmingham. “I expect to open a new office in Birmingham by the end of the year,” confirmed Eric Petrie, development director of Kyle Stewart Properties.
He added that the company is looking for additional sites in the Midlands and is considering industrial, retail, leisure and mixed-use schemes.
Kyle Stewart will recruit a two man team. The firm is searching for some 743 sq m (8,000 sq ft) of offices in Birmingham city centre along with sister company Higgs & Hill, which is relocating from Coventry.
Miller has appointed Nick Harris, formerly of Bride Properties, as development director to head up a team of five in Birmingham. The office will cover the Midlands, the South West and Wales and run retail developments in Kidderminster and Barry.
