Regional airports have suddenly all become candidates for sale,according to the Financial Times.
Local authorities own more than 30 of the UK’s regional airports. Butlack of funds has sent them into the private sector looking fordevelopment funds. For its part, companies looks upon them asviable businesses which can make money.
Bids are due in today for a controlling stake in Bristol InternationalAirport. Luton council has just circulated details of its airport.Newcastle could be next on the block. Bidders for Bristol include FirstBus, the bus and train group, National Express and TBI, a Cardiff-basedproperty and airport group.
