Warner Village is tipped to open its second multiplex in Bristol with a 10-screen operation at South Gloucestershire Council’s Kingswood site, east of the city centre.
Ian Riches, director of development at Warner Bros, confirmed to EGi that it was looking at the proposed scheme. “We are progressing further with the site,” he said. Showcase and Virgin Cinemas had also eyed the Kingswood site and may now have to revise their plans.
Warner has already signed up to open a 12-screen multiplex at The Prudential’s mixed retail and leisure scheme at Cribbs Causeway to the north of the city.
Another operator which has committed to a site in the region is Cine UK which is planning to open at THI’s Hengrove Park in south Bristol. Also, Simons Estates, the Lincoln-based developer, is believed to be looking for a multiplex operator to anchor a scheme on the bus station site on Marlborough Road.
