Trust selects shortlist for 137,000 sq ft retail scheme in north east Birmingham

Tesco, Safeway, Birch Developments and Chelverton Properties are battling it out to develop one of the last retail development sites in Birmingham.

The four have been shortlisted by Castle Vale Housing Action Trust to develop a 12,727 sq m (137,000 sq ft) retail scheme in Castle Bromwich.

Parties that did not make the shortlist include Wilson Bowden, Morrison Developments, Trinity Investments and William Morrison Supermarkets.

The Trust is looking to build a 7,618 sq m (82,000 sq ft) food store and some 5,109 sq m (55,000 sq ft) of non-food retail and leisure on the site which is opposite Jaguar automotive plant in Castle Bromwich.

Grimley and Jordan Salata Asset Management are advising CVHAT on the scheme.
