Bath is planning a radical experiment in town planning which will givepriority to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
The council is considering installing high tech bus gates at twopoints in the city which would prevent access to all vehicles other thanlocal buses. Other measures include a 20mph speed limit, closure of twocity centre car parks, the removal of on-street parking, and the closureof the famous Pulteney Bridge to all but emergency services.
