Warner considers Midlands sites for theme parks

Warner Bros is considering sites in the Midlands as possible locations for a Warner Bros Movie World film production studio and theme park.

The Hollywood movie studio plans to develop the sites with United News and Media. They already run similar operations in Germany and Australia.

The venture had hoped to secure a 60.7 sq m (150 acre) site at Uxbridge in west London. But it began to look elsewhere when construction costs spiralled to £250m and negotiations with the local authority reached deadlock. The Movie World team has since looked at a number of other locations including the Greenwich Millennium site in south London and another near Milton Keynes.
