The government gave Bass the go-ahead to buy the brewery ofCarlsberg-Tetley at Burton on Trent.
The brewery was put up for sale after Margaret Beckett, President ofthe Board of Trade, blocked Bass’s acquisition of Carlsberg-Tetley’sbrewing business.
Bass announced last month it would buy the Burton brewery and closetwo of its own breweries at Sheffield and Cardiff.
