Watson & Philip plans to open 200 Allday stores this year

Watson & Philip plans to double the size of its Alldays convenience store chain over the next three years.

The company currently runs 750 stores. It plans to open 200 more this year and plans eventually to reach a target of 2000. The expansion will take place through the company’s franchising system where managers put up to £100,000 of their own money into a scheme. They stand to make£1m each if the expansion is a success and Watson & Philip buysthem out.

Alldays’ stores reported pre-tax profits up 15% to £21.5m forthe year to November 2. It opened 233 more stores during the year.
