Exclusive: BT to choose Castle Wharf for 70,000 sq ft requirement in Nottingham

British Telecom is set to choose Castle Wharf in Nottingham for its long-standing requirement for 6,503 sq m (70,000 sq ft) of offices in the city.

Graham Seamen, Midlands Property Manager of BT, would not comment on the choice but the company is believed to be in the process of instructing lawyers on the scheme.

News of a decision will be a relief for the Nottingham office market, which has been aware of BT’s requirement for over a year. BT had shortlisted two developments for its requirement: Hampton Trust’s Royal Standard Place – which was recently granted detailed planning permission – and Castle Wharf, which is being developed by Snowden Group and Monk Estates.

Both development teams submitted planning applications to Nottingham council at their own expense after BT registered interest in them.

BT is currently based in offices at Walton House in the city centre. The telecommunications company decided to take a lease on new stock having decided against the refurbishment of its existing accommodation.
