Safeway to close two Ulster supermarkets

Safeway is to close two supermarkets in Northern Ireland less than a year after moving into the province.

It is to shut stores in Londonderry and Portadown, County Armagh.

The company insists that it is still committed to Northern Ireland. It said millions of pounds were being spent on new stores and upgrading existing outlets.
