Protestors get ready for Birmingham Northern Relief Road

The Independent reports on the protest which is growing against the Birmingham Northern Relief Road (BNRR).

The road is due to run through greenbelt land and two sites of special scientific interest. The contractors are Midland Expressway Limited.

The BNRR was conceived in 1980 as part of an “M25-style” orbital motorway round Birmingham. It will link the M42 at Coleshill with the M6 at Cannock. The developers were hoping to start work on the £400m scheme in December.
