Alan Knight, co-founder of Birmingham niche practice Knight Welch Bryce, has joined rival firm James & Lister Lea to help fill the void left by high-profile Midlands industrial agent Tim Suffield.
Last month, Suffield resigned as equity partner at James & Lister Lea to join Fuller Peiser and head up the firm’s Midlands agency team after being with the firm for 14 years.
In yet another high-profile move of a Birmingham agent, Knight is returning to mainstream agency as a partner designate in JLL with responsibility for development. He left Knight Welch Bryce some three years ago to join Connell Wilson but since its merger with Lambert Smith Hampton has pursued a consultancy role for clients such as Railtrack and English Partnerships.
However, at JLL Knight will be covering development in all sectors, not just industrial. JLL has also appointed Ian McPhillips to head up its industrial agency team.
Glyn Pitchford, senior partner at James & Lister Lea, said: “Alan’s breadth of knowledge and experience in the property market generally and the West Midlands in particular will give the firm a major boost. His role will be a wide-ranging one and it is very much a long term investment in the future.”
Suffield, himself, joined FP to replace Richard Meering who left FP to start-up Holley Blake’s new office in the city.
