The National Trust unveiled plans for a £673,000 visitor centre on top of the White Cliffs of Dover.
The low, mainly wooden centre will have a grass-covered roof with its own drainage and irrigation system. It will be called the Gateway to the White Cliffs and will include a restaurant, toilets and space for exhibitions on the history of the landscape and its wildlife. It will replace a refreshment kiosk and a lavatory block. Parking will be provided above and behind the building.
It will be located over 100ft above sea level on the Langdon Cliffs overlooking the Eastern Docks and it due to open next April.
Saga Group is contributing £250,000 over five years. Van Heyningen & Haward is the architect.
