A flexible working deal at Rover’s Longbridge plant, in Birmingham, is not now expected to be announced until Monday. Reports had suggested it would be announced yesterday.
It was hoped a deal with unions would ensure the survival of the plant but now executives at parent company BMW are threatening to produce Rover’s new Mini in eastern Europe unless the government agrees to a £200m aid package.
