Hermes Property Asset Management’s proposals for a 92,900 sq m (1m sq ft) shopping centre in Nottingham have taken a step forward with the city council’s decision to grant outline planning permission for the scheme.
The centre will be built at the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre, which is owned by Hermes, and will incorporate the centre’s existing 42,900 sq m (450,000 sq ft) of retail space.
Planning has been granted for a new centre comprising 104 shops over three levels. The scheme will feature three new anchor stores, a large catering area, multiplex cinema, nightclub, new bus terminus, and a transport interchange for the proposed LRT system.
Work on the new development is due to begin in Spring 2000 with final completion due in 2003. The first phase of the three phase project will comprise the scheme’s leisure element. This phase includes a multiplex cinema which is due to open by mid-2001.
