Minehead’s tourist industry is in turmoil following the construction of a £12.7m coastal defence scheme.
The project in the popular Somerset resort is stripping the beaches of their sand leaving visitors to negotiate vast stretches of clay. Rocks and mud to reach the sea this summer.
The environment agency had planned to bring in thousands of tonnes of sand but a shortage of funds has meant a postponement.
