Chiltern Railway studies upgrade

Chiltern Railways is looking at the possible upgrade of a further nine miles of track south of Birmingham.

It has struck a deal to allow John Laing to acquire control of the rail franchise at a cost of £10.4m.

The upgrade would complete the restoration of a line that was almost forced to close in the 1960s.
