Protesters hire lawyers to fight their pitch

A growing trend among environmental protesters to use changes in the legal set-up to fight developers in Middle England is explored in The Times

It cites protests at Manchester airport, at Big Willow Eco Village in south London – the Crystal Palace site of a proposed multiplex and leisure box. Protesters are increasingly making use of top legal firms such as Leigh Day which was in the Court of Appeal last month representing the Alliance Against the Birmingham Relief Road.

Developers and local authorities are making more use of planning lobbyists to make sure their controversial applications have the best chance.
