Selfridges is talking to seven international hotel operators about expanding its hotel and retail space at its Oxford Street site in London.
They include Thistle Hotels, and Ian Schrager, who owns the Royalton in New York. Various options are under consideration from disposal to sharing the costs of a refurbishment. The Oxford Street store is nearing the end of a £100m re-vamp. The site also includes Selfridges Hotel, a car park and office and warehouse space that may be better used as retail space.
It is considering opening two new Selfridges stores possibly in Birmingham and Glasgow. The company reported annual pre-tax profits down from £15.3m to £13.9m.
