Henry Boot buys Sunderland site for B&Q store

Henry Boot Developments has bought a 4.2ha (10.5 acre) site from bus operator Arriva in Sunderland for a £16m B&Q Warehouse store.

The developer has just won planning consent for a 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) stand-alone store on Trimdon Street. B&Q’s new store will be situated on one of the main arterial roads into Sunderland town centre.

The deal is Boot’s second with B&Q. B&Q took a store at the developer’s 36.4ha (90 acre) Whitehills Park retail and business park in Blackpool.
