Ford is to virtually rebuild its manufacturing complex in Dagenham as part of a £468m east London regeneration project.
Local authorities, educational establishments and private sector investors will join Ford in funding the initiative. The partnership has also applied for £22m in aid from the government’s single regeneration budget challenge fund.
It will landscape an area to provide a new park, giving the public leisure based access to the Thames through Ford’s 121.41ha (300 acre) site. It will also create new educational facilities for the area and a 36.42ha (90 acre) components supplier park as well as increasing Ford’s manufacturing capacity.
