BGR plans to open up to 50 new Fish! restaurants nationally within six or seven years.
It has immediate plans to develop four in London at Smithfield, Battersea, Canary Wharf and Marylebone at a cost of about £2m each. Negotiations are in place for at least six other sites in the capital. The company believes the London area could easily sustain 25-30 units.
Its Bank restaurants will take a lower priority. One is due to open in Birmingham at the end of the year and another in Westminster early in 2000. But there are no further plans for Bank after that. They cost up to six times as much as a similar-sized Fish! to develop.
