The department of health will announce today details of the first 18 successful bids to establish new National Health Service walk-in medical centres.
They include one at Boots, in New Street, Birmingham, a purpose-built centre at Terminal One, Manchester Airport, one on a Sainsbury’s site, in Dussindale, Norwich, on the site of Edgware Community Hospital, north London, one in Bath and another in the Old Swan district of Liverpool.
More will be announced in the autumn. The government has received 99 bids from all over the country.
