City firm Linklaters is at the centre of a battle to save a brewery in Mansfield, after the trustees threatened to sell the business.
The law firm has written to the trustees’ lawyers, Charles Russell, in an attempt to stop the sale of Mansfield Brewery by the brewery’s trustees.
The dispute centres on a trust deed that forbids any sale unless “in the opinion of the trustees, there are special circumstances which make it desirable to do so”.
The Save Mansfield Brewery Group has received the backing of local MP Alan Meale and leading charity QC Hubert Picardi. Mr Picardi said: “There are no special circumstances and it is unreasonable for the trustees to decide to sell.”
