Daewoo Motor is in talks with J Sainsbury about using supermarkets to sell new cars.
The company has already piloted the proposals at three Savacentre sites.
In a separate move Sainsbury’s is seeking to buy Hampden, which owns the franchise for Homebase in Ireland.
