Borders is planning to sell books over the Internet in the UK early next year, in an effort to cash in on the flourishing online book market.
Exact details of what will be available on the site are not yet known. However, Borders.com, the booksellers US Web site, currently offers 10m book, video and music titles.
Research company Verdict reports that £120m of the £3bn worth of books sold in the UK last year were bought via the Internet. Its predicts an 18% increase, nearly £400m, by 2003.
