Architect faces appeal on Chelsea award

Architect Carden & Godfrey faces an appeal after last month winning £82,500 damages in respect of work they completed at Crosby Hall, Cheyne Walk, Chelsea.

The firm was appointed in 1992 by the property’s owner, Christopher Moran, to complete the formation of a quadrangle. The work included the design of a ramp and access to underground car parking, the shell specification of the swimming pool and the detailing of a room above the gateway to the Thames in the south wing of the quadrangle. Moran complained that Carden & Godfrey had been negligent and refused to pay.

Technology and Construction Court judge David Wilcox said that there was no merit in Moran’s allegations. Moran is now appealing the decision.
