Sainsbury’s has six more sites earmarked for joint venture Homebase stores with Mayer International.
The second joint venture store opened in Greenwich, south-east London, last week. Analysts claim there could be 100 eventually.
Meyer is to close 10 of its own Jewson and Graham building materials branches.
