Vodafone move to £100m Newbury HQ sparks fear of vacant office space ‘flood’

West Berkshire councillors and business leaders are worried about Vodafone AirTouch’s plans to move to a new £100m headquarters in Newbury, following its £106bn takeover of Mannesmann.

Vodafone is moving from its 62 buildings scattered throughout the town to the new complex which will cover 12.14ha (30 acres) of greenfield land.

It is feared the town will be left with a sudden flood of vacant office space.
