Househunters have been rushing to the new web site from Britains biggest estate agent Countrywide Assured at a rate of 500,000 hits a week, figures showed today.
The www.rightmove.co.uk site, which features more than 45,000 properties for sale, was launched in January but customer numbers have surged after a recent advertising campaign.
Earlier this week Countrywide struck a deal with estate agencies Connell, Halifax and Royal & Sun Alliance to put their properties on the site. The move will take the listing up to 120,000 homes for sale.
Chairman Christopher Sporborg said rightmove.co was on track to become the leading property internet portal in Europe.
The figures came as Countrywide unveiled pretax profits for the year to December 31 of a record £75.6m, up a third on the previous years £56.7m.
Countrywide makes most of its money selling life insurance and arranging mortgages for people buying property through its estate agents.
