Norris wants empty properties turned into housing

The Tory’s candidate for London mayor has unveiled a manifesto which calls for 100,000 empty properties to be turned into affordable homes.

Stephen Norris also calls for brownfield site development, internet start-ups on derelict sites, private finance for new Tube lines, no new charges for motorists, contractors to pay for digging up roads and a 200-mile network of cycle lanes.

The latest MORI poll has found just 40% of Londoners think the Underground should be allowed to raise funds from private companies and individuals. Nearly half believe it should continue to be financed by government alone.
