Morrison Supermarkets plans to build a new head office at its Bradford home.
The company, which has had its head office at Thornton Road in the city since 1971, will move its offices to Gain Lane, Thornbury.
About 500 staff will relocate to the new head office, which should be completed by early 2002.
Head office staff are currently spread across two locations in Bradford and at its Wakefield distribution centre.
Managing director John Dowd said: “This move will be yet another exciting milestone in the companys history, which is so closely associated with the city.
Morrison as a group employs 35,000 staff and plans to have 110 shops by the end of the year.
