Norman Baker, Liberal-Democrat MP for Lewes, East Sussex, is outraged at plans to decorate the courtyard inside the new Portcullis building, in Westminster,with 12 fig trees.
The trees have been hired from Florida, USA, at a cost of £150,000 over five years.
The luxury London offices for MPs have already attracted criticism over its £230m cost.
