Complaints against cowboy builders outstripped those against secondhand car salesmen for the first time.
The latest Office of Fair Trading (OFT) statistics reveal a 20% increase in complaints against builders over three years.
But the OFT believes this could be due to greater consumer awareness rather than necessarily more problem builders.
