Landmark Securities has received planning permission to speculatively build Cardiff’s largest call centre in the heart of the city.
The 5,987 sq m (64,450 sq ft) scheme will be situated on a 1.4ha (3.5 acres) site on Tresillian Terrace. Landmark is believed to have paid landowner Cardiff Bay Development Corporation over £0.5m for the site.
Tony Nicholas, joint managing partner of Knight Frank Cardiff, commented: “Landmark was looking at all the major regional cities and decided on Cardiff because of its high profile. Not many other city centres can provide a site of this size.”
No one has been signed up for the development as yet, but companies known to have active call-centre requirements include the Post Office, Logica and cable company NTL.
Meanwhile, the International Baccalaureate Organisation has taken a 4,645 sq m (50,000 sq ft) office prelet at Cardiff Gate Business Park. The building will be completed by spring 2001.
Knight Frank is sole letting agent at the call centre, and joint letting agent with Fletcher Morgan at Cardiff Gate Business Park.
