Laura Ashley plans to open stand alone home furnishings stores.
It has decided to close 36 of the units that operate within Sainsburys Homebases.
It hopes to have seven standalone shops by the end of January. The first opened in South Woodford, Essex, two weeks ago and others are envisaged for Nantwich, Cheshire and Nottingham. The company believes there is potential for 100.
It has changed its mind about closing to factories in Wales.
