Plans unveiled for Edinburgh World Trade Centre

Edinburgh is to join New York and London in the select group of cities with a World Trade Centre.

Development company Edinburgh Waterfront has unveiled detailed plans for a 200,000 sq ft WTC in the city’s Granton district. The announcement follows the decision of the WTC Association to grant a license for the Edinburgh scheme at its general assembly in Boston in April.

The centre, to be built on a 162ha (400 acre) site, is scheduled for completion by 2004.

WTA vice-president in New York Herbert Ouida described Edinburgh Waterfront’s proposals as “audacious, a bold stroke by a team of entrepreneurial people with tremendous vision.”
