Brixton Estate has won detailed planning permission at appeal for its 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) Orbis office scheme at The Causeway in Staines.
This follows the surrender of a lease with five years left to run on a 20-year-old 6,688 sq m (72,000 sq ft) warehouse from Sony UK last year and the payment to Brixton of a premium of £0.5m.
Orbis will be split into three buildings of 4,737 sq m (51,000 sq ft), 3,994 sq m (43,000 sq ft) and 2,415 sq m (26,000 sq ft). Work on site will start in March 2001 and be completed by summer 2002.
The 1.4ha (3.7-acre) scheme adjoins Siebels new headquarters at the old Glanty Loop site, which Brixton sold to the RAC.
Tim Wheeler (pictured), Brixton’s chief executive, said: “Following on from the successful planning negotiations to achieve consent in October for the 27,870 m sq (300,000 sq ft) Aviator Park office scheme at Addlestone we are delighted to have also now won this Appeal. The strength of the Staines market remains undoubted and office and business buildings do complement our more obvious industrial and warehouse activities in the Western Corridor.”
