Directors of Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries are understood to be in advanced buy-out negotiations with UBS Capital in a £472m offer for the company.
Noble House Leisure and Botts are still continuing due diligence on the company before deciding whether to launch a bid for the 1,780 pubs and four breweries.
The Guardian says the management is running out of time and unless it can up its offer it should concede defeat.
